PRESERVING TRADITIONAL CRAFTS SKILLS AND TRANSFERRING THEM TO THE NEXT GENERATION

The Grant Contracts between the Managing Authority of the Programme and the Lead Beneficiaries of two projects have been signed:

  • ENI-LLB-1-098 ‘Strengthening Identity of Rural Places through Traditional Crafts and Tourism Development’ (acronym ‘Village – Source of Culture’). Four partners representing districts of Lida (Grodno Oblast, Belarus) and Trakai (Vilnius County, Lithuania) are aiming to present how culture, landscape, crafts of the villages can serve in development of creative activities of local communities, creating good social atmosphere, introducing activities which can involve both town and village dwellers, professionals and locals, building sustainable relations between different generations and strengthening sense of belonging. The budget of the project is over 300 000 EUR.
  • ENI-LLB-1-216 ‘Researching and Preserving Traditional Skills of Dvina/Daugava Valley Territory Inhabitants and Transferring Them for the Next Generation’ (acronym ‘New Life of Old Crafts’). In the frame of the project three organisations – Culture Department of Daugavpils District Municipality (Latgale Region, Latvia), National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve and Braslav District Association of Museums (Vitebsk Oblast, Belarus) – experienced in culture heritage preservation and promotion will be increasing cultural and social quality of life in cross-border territory by creating the opportunity for wide society and new generation to learn and take over the traditional craftsmen skills. The budget of the project is over 122 000 EUR.
